Mediated Data Collection for Mobile Augmented Reality Applications

Objective The goal of this project is to design, implement and apply a library for remotely logging the user interactions and sensor status for Augmented Reality applications on Android smartphones.
Description Methods for conducting user studies in Human-Computer-Interaction emerged in the field of desktop-based applications. Therefore, a large number of these methods are designed with stationary observation (i.e. at the PC) in mind. With the spreading of mobile computing in recent years, novel methods for investigating Human-Computer-Interaction in natural environments began to emerge. Means for automatically logging user interaction and the application and device status are needed when the user is not under direct observation of a researcher. The goal of this project is to design, implement and apply a library for remotely logging the user interactions and sensor status for Augmented Reality applications on Android smartphones. • Basic knowledge of Human-Computer-Interaction, user studies • Good programming skills in C/C++ • Interest in smartphone programming under Android Requirements:
  • basic knowledge of Human-Computer-Interaction, user studies
  • good programming skills in C/C++
