Gerhard Schall´s homepage
Schall Gerhard is a research scientist in the Augmented Reality group at the Institute of Computer Graphics and Vision at the Technische Universität Graz, Austria.
After having finished Higher Technical School (HTL) Villach, division IT and Business Organisation, he graduated with distinction in 2002 with a Dipl.-Ing. degree from Graz University of Technology, where he studied Telematics – a combination of computer science and natural science. In 2011 he received a Dr. techn. dregree in Computer Science from Graz University of Technology. He has published technological works as well as prototype demonstrations in the areas of ubiquitous computing and mixed reality. He also has a strong background in wearable computing. His work currently focuses on positioning technologies and on 3D modeling for Augmented Reality and ubiquitous computing technologies. Gerhard Schall is a registered member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Lately he was working for the Vidente project (FFG Bridge funded) that envisions visualization of underground infrastructure with handheld augmented reality as well as for the project Pomar3D (FFG ASAP ARTIST funded) for building a highly precice positioning and orientation unit for handheld augmented reality. Afterwards he was engaged for PRESENCCIA - "Presence: Research Encompassing Sensory Enhancement, Neuroscience, Cerebral-Computer Interfaces and Applications" under FP7 funding where he was in charge of international distributed demo setups. From March 2009 till September 2011 he was a key scientist in the project SMART VIDENTE - "Subsurface Mobile Augmented Reality Technology" funded by FFG and a consortium of four industrial partners. For his industry relevant research contributions he won the industry award 2011 from the ÖGL (Österreichische Vereinigung für grabenloses Bauen und Instandhalten von Leitungen).
Since 2012 Dr. Schall is engaged in the development of projects for renewable energies, especially photovoltaics.
